Kyalo Searle-Mbulu

Kyalo is a Glasgow-based musician and audio-visual artist, primarily working across studios and international stages as a multi-instrumentalist with alt-pop band The Ninth Wave and free jazz ensemble The Glasgow Improvisers Orchestra. In his solo work, the liminal spaces between sound and vision are explored through performance and installation. Improvisation through generative and aleotoric processes constructs soundscapes eliciting bliss and melancholy. He is interested in deconstructing how we listen and communicate, perceptions of abstract ideas and identities – particularly through a lens of accessibility. Addressing the relationship between humans and their environments is also present in his work through the overarching theme of acoustic ecology.
