Kapil Seshasayee

Kapil Seshasayee is an Art Rock / Indian Classical / R&B musician and visual artist based in Glasgow, Scotland. His debut LP - “A Sacred Bore” is a concept album about oppression within the Indian caste system both in India and in diaspora.

The first in a trilogy of Desifuturist works, the album has featured in Pitchfork, VICE, Rolling Stone India, The Guardian, The New Indian Express, The Quietus, BBC Asian Network, BBC Radio Scotland and has been inducted into the Sound & Moving Image exhibit of The British Library.

Kapil toured the album across the UK, Canada & Germany across 2018-19 with festival appearances at SXSW, Latitude Festival, SOLAS Festival, Glasgow Mela, Celtic Connections, Outwith Festival and Doune The Rabbit Hole.

Kapil released the first single from the follow up to “A Sacred Bore” in October 2019 which will be a concept album about the influence of the Bollywood Film Industry. Three singles from the upcoming LP have been released so far and have featured at Rolling Stone India, Bandcamp, The Quietus, The Hindu, BBC Radio6 Music, BBC Radio Scotland, BBC Asian Network and Pop Matters. With singles released thus far - Kapil has tackled the normalisation of misogyny, nationalist rhetoric and the nature of censorship as it relates to modern Indian cinema and its influence.
