Chanelle Louisa Brown

With each falling there is a “Rising”; do not despise humble beginnings.

Jupiter Rising Residency represents a new beginning for me and in this time of quarantine I have said goodbye to things and people that I love, I am learning about boundaries by social-distancing, and I am understanding self-love and community in new ways by self-isolating.

Chanelle Brown (b. 1993) is a London born, Glasgow based Black Female Artist and Poet. Her multi-sensory landscapes rewrite and unravel history beneath layers of hair, textiles, rhyme and moving image. Much like caring for the fine coils of her own hair she gently untangles the complexities of trauma and personhood through the way of storytelling and self-care practices.
